Ivan 2018 Recipient

lvan was born on September 10th, 2008 in St Paul, MN. Ivan currently attends All Saints Catholic School in Lakeville, MN. Ivan is an observer who loves reading, playing video games and playing with his brothers. Ivan doesn’t like to be the center of attention, but is gentle and compassionate and has eyes that are filled with wisdom and kindness. When Ivan was 4 years old, his dad (Chad) and mom (Danielle) noticed that he was struggling to keep up with his 2 year old brother. After undergoing several tests, Ivan was diagnosed with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. DMD is a degenerative muscle disease in which most children transition to a wheelchair between ages 9-12. Ivan currently does physical therapy and is a part of 2 clinical trials at the University of Florida and Seattle Children’s Hospital. There is currently no cure for DMD.

Ivan visited Buck Chasers in October with his family. Ivan was able to harvest a great 9 pt during an evening hunt after watching several deer all day. Despite the weather forecast calling for rain all day, the good Lord held that rain back and made for some great whitetail hunting conditions. He saw several deer in the morning, but wanted to hold out for something bigger. Later that night after watching well over a dozen deer and a dozen turkeys, this great buck stepped out and presented a perfect shot. Ivan’s patience paid off and he was able to harvest his buck. His family will now have some excellent table fare and be able to reflect back on this time together with the whole family for years to come.
